Provenance: The vendor has kindly supplied the following information to us:

"Launched in 1959 the Silver Cloud II became the first production Rolls-Royce to use a V8 engine. The all new 6230cc engine gave the Silver Cloud a 115mph top speed, as well as impressive acceleration times for such a large, heavy car. The engine could also be found in the new Bentley SII and Phantom V limousine.

Coachwork was virtually identical to the previous Silver Cloud I, minor differences included improved headlamps and the facia now featured adjustable fresh air vents. Common extras included power windows and air conditioning. In total 2417 Silver Cloud II saloons were produced, a few of these cars carried specialist coachwork. Production ended with the arrival of the Silver Cloud III in 1962.
