A SCARCE ORDNANCE MARKED .450 SIX-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION SERVICE REVOLVER, MODEL 'ADAMS PATENT', serial no. 4304,
dated for December 1871, with blued octagonal barrel, dove-tailed block and blade fore-sight, sighting notch to top-strap, two-piece frame with side-plates, 'W.D.' over the Roman numeral 'II' stamped to left hand side of frame and the date stamp above trigger, plain blued six-shot cylinder with matching number, 'Adams Patent' and 'AJ' monogram trade mark overstamped with 'broad arrow' sold out of service marks to right hand side of frame, hinged loading gate (loose), chequered one-piece walnut grip, iron pommel-cap with eye for lanyard ring, separate half back-strap and captive under-barrel ejector rod, the whole retaining much original finish, some scuffs and fading to high spots.
