30in. black powder only bold damascus barrels, ribs engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER. 151 NEW BOND STREET. LONDON.', and '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in all, both barrels with pitting and dents, No. 4331 left wall at 18, Lancaster patent actions, striker discs, rebounding back-action locks with characteristic hammer with the hammer breasts striking the firing pins, border and bold acanthus scroll engraving, 14 1/2in. figured stocks including 5/8in. ebonite extensions, No. 4331 cracked at hand and damage to fore-end tip, No. 4416 missing triggerguard tang screw, weight 7lb. 6oz., in their brass-bound two tier oak and leather case, the lid with brass escutcheon engraved 'Major Gen. Fytche'

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that the order books show gun No.4331 was ordered in 1869 for a Count Lambertye, but was actually sold to a Major General Fytche and that gun 4416 was subsequently ordered by and sold to Major General Fytche in 1871.

Lt.-Gen. Albert Fytche served as Chief Commissioner of the British Crown Colony of Burma from February 1867 to April 1871.
