A SCARCE .56 PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT REVOLVING SPORTING RIFLE, MODEL '1855 FULL-STOCK', serial no. 7542,
circa 1860, with special order 25in. barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves marked '100', '300' & '600' respectively, solid frame, the top-strap signed 'COL COLT HARTFORD C.T. U.S.A.', fully fluted cylinder, side-hammer action, walnut butt-stock, carbine-style heel-plate with central sliding gate concealing a cleaning brush, brass trigger-guard bow and tang, walnut three-quarter length fore-end with two iron barrel-bands, brass nose-cap, no provision for bayonet, no sling swivels, articulated loading lever and iron under-barrel cleaning rod, some refinishing throughout
