30in. black powder reproved damascus barrels, rib engraved 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 13 CARRS LANE. BIRMINGHAM. PATENT.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and imp. cyl. choke, action incorporating William Powell patent lift-up toplever, patent no. 1163 of 7th May 1864, use number 2211, carved percussion fences, broad strikers, bar-in-wood, rebounding sidelocks with flat sided hammers, border and crosshatch border engraving, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardened finish, 14 1/2in. semi-pistolgrip stock (crack to underside from knuckle to tang) and with colour-hardened steel pistolgrip-cap and blued steel buttplate, fore-end with pinned horn finial, weight 6lb. 13oz.
