AN 18-BORE FLINTLOCK HOLSTER-PISTOL RE-MOUNTED IN SILVER TO THE PERSIAN TASTE, no visible serial number
the pistol circa 1780, the stocking and decoration later and locally executed, with two-stage 12in. slightly swamped barrel, the top-flat stamped at breech with a crescent moon and signed 'LONDON' (rubbed), solid top-tang (cleaned, traces of engraving), flat-sided bevel-edged lockplate signed 'WALKLATE', stepped tail with sliding safe behind the hammer, bridled frizzen and roller-bearing spring (the whole cleaned with some loss to detail), hardwood full-stock fully inlaid with profuse silver-wire scrolls and arabesques, the larger carved and embossed furniture pieces including the long-eared butt-cap, trigger-guard tang and bow and stylised martial trophy side-plate stamped with Persian hallmarks, large irregular escutcheon at wrist, possible replacement white-metal nose-cap stamped 'TDC' in an oval to the underside and incomplete white-metal covered wood ramrod
