* A .740 MATCHLOCK SERVICE-MUSKET SIGNED NEUFCHASTEL, no visible serial number,
Swiss, the majority circa 1630-40, with iron two-stage 44 3/4in. barrel 'in the white', the top-flat of the octagonal breech-section signed in large capital letters 'NEVFCHASTEL' (sic, possibly renewed), applied bead fore-sight, applied standing notch rear-sight with rounded wings, plain top-tang, radiused plain musket-style lock with large pan and hinged cover, flash-guard to the rear, moulded rear-facing serpentine with flared jaws operated by a large wing-nut, replacement walnut full-stock with lightly carved borders around the rear of the lock and the top-tang, roach-bellied butt, iron 'tiller' trigger, two side nails and replacement iron ramrod with later brass thimbles
