circa 1860, with ribbon-twist browned round tapering 33 1/2in. barrel, bead fore-sight, carved steeple-shaped slightly concave short sighting rib terminating in open scrolls at breech, fully scroll engraved top-tang (later additional screw at rear), border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'W.H. EDWARDS' above a scene of gamebirds, the lock-tail with shell engraving, chequered walnut half-stock (cracked and repaired behind lock), iron heel-plate with traces of engraving to the top-spur, iron trigger-guard and bow with pineapple finial and rounded horn fore-end tip with no provision for ramrod
