Product Details
* A 6mm PINFIRE SIX-SHOT 'POCKET' REVOLVER FOR THE AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN MARKET, serial no. 63572,
French or Belgian circa 1870, with 5 3/4in. barrel, fore-sight mounted midway, scroll engraved octagonal breech, engraved ratchet-locking cylinder, open iron frame with further engraving, hinged loading gate and smooth walnut grips, folding trigger, action at fault
Other Notes: These quirky pistols were specifically built to circumnavigate a law prohibiting short barrelled pistols introduced by the Austro-Hungarian empire. Short barrelled pistols required registration and carried a hefty purchase tax, so enterprising gunmakers produced long-barrelled pistols with the fore-sight placed halfway along the barrel, allowing the customer to cut them back and avoid the legislation
