A RARE MILITARY PERCUSSION-CAP TESTER OR FUSE IGNITER, no visible serial number,
circa 1855, the body of the piece constructed of gunmetal bronze and following the outline of the shaped borderline engraved iron lock-plate, the lock signed 'R.T. PRITCHETT, LONDON', military style side-hammer operating against a nipple mounted on a side-drum with vent beneath, the left hand side of body engraved 'R.T. PRITCHETT, 26 ST JAMES' STT, RIFLE MANUFACTURER TO H.M. WAR DEPARTMENT', the top of body mounted with a screwed hammer-spring tensioning device, walnut chequered bag-shaped butt and iron trigger-guard bow
