A PAIR OF 40-BORE PERCUSSION BRASS-FRAMED BOXLOCK POCKET-PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1840, with round, slightly tapering blued turn-off 2in. barrels (frozen), engraved bands to muzzle and join, ribbed nipples, squared brass bodies with border and foliate engraving surrounding central oval panels signed 'W. PARKER' and 'HIGH HOLBORN, LONDON respectively on the left and right hand sides, blued central hammers with sliding safes to the top-tangs, finely chequered walnut butts with flat heels banded with a brass ring, the centres bearing a brass escutcheon with concave sides, further oval brass escutcheon to the wrists engraved with a gothic letter 'T', concealed folding automatic triggers, both pistols retaining much original blued finish to the iron parts (both barrels with some bruising caused by attempted removal)
