A POSSIBLE EXPERIMENTAL .577 PERCUSSION SHORT-RIFLE, no visible serial number,
dated for 1854, with 30in. barrel rifled in three grooves, block and blade fore-sight, ladder rear-sight with elevator to 900 yds., military inspectors marks and proofs at breech, signed borderline engraved lock with date and 'VR' crown stamp, walnut three-quarter stock marked 'REEVES', brass furniture, three iron barrel-bands and iron mushroom headed ramrod; TOGETHER WITH a letter from the Ministry of Defence Army Quality Assurance Directorates

Other Notes: The letter that accompanies this lot suggests that this is possibly a prototype arm or development stage for the Pattern '56 Short Rifle
