28in. nitro replacement barrels, ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2', tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND 13, BRUTON STREET, LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 (No.1) and 1/4 and imp. cyl. (No.2), No.2 right bore dimension marginal and wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, hand-detachable lockplates, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best bold Royal scroll engraving, the undersides with elaborate cartouches engraved 'ROYAL HAMMERLESS EJECTOR', brushed finish overall, 16in. replacement stocks, weight 6lb. 9oz., in a Holland & Holland brass-cornered oak and leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that gun No. 23017 was completed on the 4th October 1902 as a 12-bore Royal hammerless 'AB' ejector gun with 30in. barrels and a 'special rib' for 'P.B. Hatt'.
Gun No. 23122 was ordered by 'Duncan' but then sold to 'Copeman' as a 12-bore Royal hammerless 'AB' ejector gun, with 30in. barrels. There is an additional note from the factory regarding the regulation of the gun with 2 3/4in. barrels (presumably the replacements) on the 18th July 1966.
