circa 1856, with iron 19in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, four folding leaf and one standing notch rear-sight, iron receiver with slanted breech-block and trapdoor for Maynards Tap Primer, the trapdoor signed 'EDWARD MAYNARD PATENTEE 1845', the top tang with British acceptance stamp, serial number and 'SHARPS PATENT 1848', walnut butt-stock with brass patch-box and heel-plate (inlet repair at toe), iron under-lever, walnut splinter fore-end and iron barrel-band, the whole darkly stained, woodwork refreshed
