A PAIR OF 120-BORE FLINTLOCK RIFLED TURN-OFF POCKET-PISTOLS WITH CARVED BIRDSHEAD BUTTS, UNSIGNED, no visible serial numbers,
probably French circa 1770, with micro-rifled 1 3/4in. cannon barrels (frozen), octagonal to sixteen-sided breech-blocks, solid top-tangs, radiused locks with pointed tails, dog safety-catches behind the hammers (one hammer cracked), walnut half-stocks carved with borders around the locks, a floral spay around the top-tangs and a stylised birdshead with inlet eyes to the pommels, moulded iron side-plates, no provision for ramrods, iron surfaces brushed bright as per original
