dated for 1861, with five-groove rifled barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, borderline engraved lock with 'TOWER' signature and 'VR' crown cypher, walnut three-quarter stock with iron furniture, rear swivel mounted to the tang, bayonet lug to side of muzzle and jag-ended ramrod, the exposed iron surfaces darkly stained with some pitting
