SAMUEL NOCK 16-BORE ROTARY-UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 8264, circa 1870 and likely converted from muzzle-loading, 28in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 2008), the rib engraved 'SAMUEL NOCK. REGENT CIRCUS. PICCADILLY. LONDON. GUN MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, Jones patent rotary underlever, back-action locks with diminutive rebounding hammers, locks engraved 'SAMUEL NOCK. INVENIT.', and with bold acanthus scroll engraving and scenes of hound flushing rabbit and pheasant, the triggerguard engraved with floral scroll and a vignette of pheasants in a woodland setting, patinated finish overall, 14 1/4in. figured stock, Hackett-type snap-on fore-end with horn finial, weight 7lb. 4oz.
