A SCARCE 20-BORE 'SKELETON ACTION' TOPLEVER BAR-IN-WOOD HAMMERGUN, serial no. 3613,
for 1880, 28in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 1963), the rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. choke in both, some external pits and rusting, Dickson 'skeleton' bar-in-wood action with carved percussion fences, W.M. Scott patent toplever and spindle, patent no. 2752 of 25th October 1875, use number 25205, fine acanthus scroll engraving, the lockplates with banners engraved 'JOHN', 'DICKSON', '& SON', the underside with a small celtic circle at the knuckle, 12 3/4in. stock (missing buttplate), fore-end with semi-concealed Anson pushrod, weight 5lb. 1oz.
Provenance: The makers records list the gun as a breech loading 20-bore 'skeleton' with 28in. barrels, sold on 24th January 1880
