THOMSON'S AZIMUTH MIRROR BY JAMES WHITE, early 1880s, fully working with prism, mirror, spirit level, hinged filters/lenses, with shadow pins housed in the lid, in original dove-tailed stained oak fitted case with original diagrammed instruction label in good condition, William Thomson first described his Azimuth Mirror in 1877, some three years later the design was improved with a reflecting prism replacing the mirror, White died in 1884
