A PERIOD ENGRAVED .44 (RUSSIAN) SMITH & WESSON STYLE DOUBLE-ACTION REVOLVER, serial no. 830-374,
manufactured pre 1899, probably Spanish, with nickel-plated 5in. barrel, raised sighting rib stamped 'SPRINGHEAD V.K. NEW YORK', crescent fore-sight, American scroll engraving to muzzle and barrel throat, notch rear-sight, fluted automatic ejection cylinder with scroll engraving over each chamber, scroll engraved break-open frame, double action mechanism, guarded trigger and exposed hammer, chequered hard rubber grips marked with an 'O.H.' monogram in the Smith & Wesson style, strong traces of nickel-plating throughout, with certificate of proof
Provenance: This revolver is probably the work of Orbea Hermanos of Eibar. The engraving is almost certainly conducted at the factory
