circa 1795, with octagonal 9in. barrel, private proofs, engraved bands at breech, engraved top-tang, bevel-edged lock with stepped and pointed tail and signed 'H & I WHATELY' below the semi rainproof pan, swan-necked cock, roller frizzen-spring, walnut full-stock with semi slab-sided grip (loss to upper right edge of fore-end in antiquity) and iron furniture including under-barrel ramrod
