fifth model circa 1860 with later conversion, 7 3/4in. octagonal barrel marked 'E. WHITNEY, N. HAVEN' and stamped with an anchor device near junction with frame (no 'U.S' markings), bead fore-sight, solid iron three-screw frame with sighting groove to the top-strap, plain six-shot cylinder extended at rear behind locking notches, inlet standing breech-face, single action mechanism, smooth walnut grips and brass trigger guard with traces of plating, the underside of barrel with serial number over-stamped '34' concealed by rammer
