HENRY ATKIN (FROM PURDEY'S) 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 1421, circa 1900, 29in. blacked damascus nitro barrels, the rib engraved 'HENRY ATKIN (FROM PURDEY'S) 2 JERMYN ST. HAYMARKET. LONDON.', the under rib gold-inlaid '2' under the fore-end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, pitting, denting and rivelling overall, small chip to knuckle by right cocking lever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving with some beaded bordering, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 1/4in. figured stock, gold oval escutcheon engraved 'G.U.2.', fore-end finial gold-inlaid '2', weight 6lb. 8oz., in its brass-cornered oak and leather case with gold-tooled Henry Atkin (From Purdey's) leather trade label, the case outer marked 'G. UTHWATT' and 'GREAT LINFORD. NEWPORT PAGNELL.'
