circa 1858, with round tip-up 3 1/2in. barrel, the top-strap signed 'MASS. ARMS CO. CHICOPEE FALLS', bead fore-sight, swinging locking latch at barrel throat, auto-indexing plain cylinder etched with foliage and trophies, coarsely engraved iron frame, the right side with similarly engraved sliding plate concealing the tape-primer, the lid marked with 'MAYNARD'S PATENT SEPT 22 1845', the backstrap with 'PATENT JAN 2 1855', two-piece walnut grip and guarded trigger, much finish and traces of colour
