A MOST UNUSUAL .44 (RIMFIRE) OVER-UNDER BOOT-PISTOL SPURIOUSLY SIGNED REMINGTON, serial no. 2,
almost certainly Spanish, circa 1875, with scratch rifled 5 3/4in. barrels, moulded top-rib signed 'E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION N.Y. ELLIOTS PATENT DEC 12M 1868' (partially obscured, pitted), small moulded fore-sight, shallow sighting notch to top of standing breech, borderline and scroll engraved moulded receiver, articulated ejector camming as the barrels are lifted, exposed hammer (sticky), guarded trigger and chequered walnut bag-shaped grips with lanyard ring at heel
