A SCARCE BOXED .22 BARREL-COCKING AIR PISTOL, MODEL 'SENIOR FIRST MODEL', serial no. S2902,
circa 1931, with blued 7 1/2in. rifled barrel, adjustable rearsight, blued steel air chamber marked 'WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD BIRMINGHAM' with various world-wide patents on the right hand side and 'THE WEBLEY SENIOR' together with 'MADE IN ENGLAND' and further international patents on the left, partial serial number to front end-cap, no warnings to rear end-cap or retaining grub screw, no 'OIL HERE' warning to body, black, chequered straight-sided bakelite grips with 'WS' script monogram, serial number above left hand grip, letter 'J' stamped behind trigger-guard, bright trigger, the whole remaining in fine order with the majority of its original finish TOGETHER WITH its original blue-grey paste-board carton with instructions in lid (two corners split, label dirty), and containing various papers including an original spares list, a contemporary brochure, a later 'WEBLEY' catalogue (1950's), a rare grey card carton for 'WEBLEY SPECIAL' pellets marked 'THE WEBLEY SENIOR AIR PISTOL' (empty of contents apart from two replacement leather barrel washers) and a period tin of 500 'ELEY WASP' pellets with paper label (opened, contents complete)
