PREVIOUSLY THE PROPERTY OF COL. CUTHBERT VAUX
A SCARCE .450/.455 WEBLEY & SCOTT COMMERCIAL MKVI SERVICE REVOLVER, serial no. 204118, with its period holster,
undated, the '0' in the number rubbed out but circa 1914, with 6in. barrel, ramp and blade fore-sight, rear-sight notch to the barrel locking latch, break-open frame with holster guides, six-shot fluted quick-release cylinder, double action mechanism, the backstrap marked 'C. VAUX 4TH ATT 12TH D.L.I.' and with chequered hard rubber grips, good London commercial refinish and including its period leather full-flap service holster, the outside of flap embossed 'C.V.', the inside inked 'COL C. VAUX, MOULTON MANOR, RICHMOND, YORKS.'


Provenance: Cuthbert Vaux was the son of Major Cuthbert Vaux and Margaret, née Manford.
He married Brenda Eleonora Mary Palmer, daughter of Godfrey Mark Palmer and Eleonora Mary Geddes, on 18 September 1929. He later married again to Dorothea Jean Neilson Edden in 1957.
He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)
In World War I he served as a Lieutenant/temporary Captain in the Durham Light Infantry and was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.). He gained the rank of Colonel in the Northumberland Hussars Yeomanry.
