A CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION TRANTER'S PATENT REVOLVER RETAILED BY B. COGSWELL, serial no. 12753T,
circa 1859, 4th model with blued octagonal 6in. barrel, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, engraved band at muzzle, scroll engraving at barrel throat, the solid top-strap border engraved and signed 'B. COGSWELL 224 STRAND LONDON', notch rear-sight to top of standing breech, plain borderline engraved five-shot cylinder with traces of colour, borderline and scroll engraved frame, double-action only trigger with spurred hammer, chequered walnut saw-handled grip and Tranter's Patent rammer fitted to left side of barrel, much finish and traces of colour, in its green baize-lined oak case with B. Cogswell trade label, a flask, loading rod, oil bottle and bone nipple-pot
