A RARE AND FINE CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION DEANE-HARDING PATENT DELUXE REVOLVER SIGNED DEANE & SON, LONDON, serial no. 5537L,
circa 1860, with blued octagonal 6in. barrel engraved with scrolls at breech, borderlined to the flats and further scrolls at muzzle, the top-strap with broad engraved border and signed 'DEANE & SON, LONDON BRIDGE' within, two-piece borderline and scroll engraved blued frame, plain colour hardened five-shot cylinder with engraved band to leading edge and panels of scrolls between each chamber, double action mechanism with spurred hammer, chequered walnut one-piece saw-handled grip, fully engraved domed iron colour hardened butt-cap, guarded trigger and hinged under-barrel rammer, the pistol retaining much of its blue and colour and together with its maker's oak storage case lined and compartmented in green baize and complete with a wood cleaning rod, turn-screw, cap pots, reproduction flask, cap-tin and oil bottle, the inside of lid with reproduction trade-label
