A CASED 54-BORE ADAMS 1851 PATENT REVOLVER RETAILED BY DOOLEY, LIVERPOOL, serial no. 30760,
circa 1854, with blued 6 3/16in. barrel, scroll engraving to sides of barrel-throat, dove-tailed fore-sight, the top-strap signed 'DOOLEY, 11 RANELAGH ST., LIVERPOOL', plain five-shot cylinder with traces of faded colour, borderline and scroll engraved solid frame with 'L' shaped safe spring and frame-mounted swivel rammer (possibly added later), chequered walnut grip, guarded self-cocking trigger, spurless hammer and iron grip-cap, much blued finish remaining, in its maker's oak casing relined in green baize but retaining the original jade-green parchment trade-label and together with a period flask, mould, nipple-key and a cap bag bearing a Westley Richards label, the outer case lid with a brass escutcheon marked 'MR GEO. STONE, LIVERPOOL' and later brass corners
