circa 1864, with blued octagonal 8in. barrel, the top-flat crisply marked with 'PATENTED SEPT 14 1858' over 'E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION NEWYORK U.S.A.' over 'NEW MODEL', dove-tailed nickel conical fore-sight, blued solid frame with sighting groove to top-strap and plain six-shot cylinder with safe notches between the nipple-wells, single action mechanism, brass trigger guard, smooth walnut grips and hinged under-barrel rammer, the whole retaining much original finish, mostly 'M' and 'D' inspector marks.
