circa 1820 with later conversion to percussion, probable replacement Birmingham proved damascus 31 3/4in. unsigned barrels, platinum plugs, bar-action locks with borderline and feathered scroll engraving, the bars with plugged apertures from a previous flintlock mechanism and inhabited by coiled serpents (all rubbed), barely legible 'JOSEPH MANTON, PATENT' signatures, moulded hammers with scroll engraving to breasts (right with working repair), chequered walnut half-stock, iron furniture and replacement ramrod
