A RARE .22 (L/R) SMITH & WESSON FIRST MODEL '91 SINGLE-SHOT TARGET-PISTOL, serial no. 20782,
circa 1898, with nickel-plated 8in. barrel, raised top-rib signed by the maker and with patent dates to '1880', the maker's signature and the patent details separated by 'MODEL OF '91', pinned blade fore-sight, drift adjustable blade to the lift-up barrel-latch, automatic ejection on opening, revolver-type frame retaining its recoil shield, single action mechanism with colour hardened trigger and hammer, factory chequered walnut oversized grips, the whole retaining much of its period plated finish and colour


Provenance: Only approximately 1250 of these First Model '91's were produced between 1893-1905 across three calibres. The .22 had a production of 862 pieces, and they share their serial number range with the .38 Single Action Third Model revolver by the same company
