A CASED 10-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN SIGNED WILLIAM LING, LONDON, serial no. 308,
circa 1845, with browned laminated 28 3/4in. barrels, the raised top-rib signed 'WILL'M LING, GUN MAKER 61 JERMYN ST. ST. JAMES LONDON' (possibly refreshed), scroll engraving to the rib-end at breech, platinum engraved plugs, fully border and scroll engraved long top-tang, border, scroll and gamescene engraved back-action locks signed 'WILL'M LING LONDON' below the scroll engraved dolphin headed hammers (rubbed), chequered walnut half-stock, iron furniture, the trigger guard tang fitted with a grip safe (currently not locking the hammers), full-length finial with integral ramrod throat and brass mounted ebony ramrod, in a brass bound mahogany casing relined in green baize, good facsimile trade-label inside lid and complete with a pair of flasks, nipple key, oiler, cleaning rod and sundry accessories


Provenance: William Ling was originally the foreman working for Forsyth, trading on his own from various addresses in London from 1820. The Jermyn Street address was his last and he worked there between 1840-1863
