AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY INDIAN PULOUAR,
with heavily curved 29 1/2in. blade (stained, loss through corrosion to edge near tip), false edged for the last 7 1/2in., three parallel narrow fullers towards the back edge with a number of cross-shaped punch-marks uniformly spaced 6in. from hilt, a maker's stamp to right side of blade below hilt (rubbed), iron anthropomorphic hilt with forward facing quillions formed as stylised feet, the grip-piece swelling centrally and terminating in an up-turned urchin pommel capped with a circular plate and central spire, complete with its moulded vellum scabbard bearing traces of an illegible collection label
