A COLLECTION OF FIVE HIGH LIFE AND SIMILAR GENTLEMAN'S KNIVES,
all of similar form and manufactured in Solingen between the wars for the South American market, the first with 6in. blade etched 'HIGH LIFE' within a panel of scrolls and false edged for the last 2 3/4in., the squared ricasso with an embossed romanesque bust within a laurel wreath (traces of gilding), plated alloy cross-guard with back and forth quillions, turned brass hilt with a bulbous central section of orange catalin and spherical pommel of brass mounted catalin with central spire, the second and third with similar 6 1/2in. blades with crown trademarks, the central hilt section of one in black buffalo horn, the other in cream catalin, the fourth not marked 'high life' but with otherwise similar 7in. blade, plated mounts and cream catalin and the last with unsigned 8 1/4in. blade etched with an alligator to one side and 'SEM RIVAL' to the reverse, the central catalin section with black polka-dots, each with their respective leather scabbards
