circa 1865, with octagonal 7 1/2in. barrel, pinched pillar fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, the top-flat of barrel signed 'E REMINGTON & SONS, ILION NEW YORK USA' below the patent date and above 'NEW MODEL', plain six-shot cylinder, solid frame with single-action mechanism, brass trigger guard bow, flared smooth walnut grips with traces of a martial cartouche, traces of finish, 'P' and 'W' inspector's stamps, in a later stained oak casing lined and compartmented in green baize and including a flask, cap tin, 'L' shaped nipple-key and period brass mould, reproduction 'Army & Navy C.S.L.' label inside lid
