HARTFORD, CONN.', block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, 'NEW MODEL 1859' stamped at breech, iron receiver with vertical breech-block, the lockplate with in-built pellet primer and marked 'R.S. LAWRENCE PAT. APRIL 12TH 1859', the body of the lock marked 'C. SHARPS PAT. OCT. 5TH 1852', left side of receiver marked 'SHARPS PAT. SEPT 12TH 1848', straight hand walnut butt-stock with traces of possible faint martial cartouches at head, iron patchbox, iron heel-plate, under-lever opening with sliding lock to tang, walnut full-length fore-end, three iron barrel-bands and nose-cap, strong amount of an older refinish
