for 1882, with blued 28in. octagonal nitro reproved barrel (in 2026), the top-flat marked 'WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS NEW HAVEN CT.' over 'KINGS IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860', dove-tailed blade fore-sight, ladder and standing notch rear-sight, calibre designation at breech, blued receiver with sliding dust-cover (traces of finish remaining), central hammer, model designation to top-tang, hinged finger-lever, brass lifter engraved with the calibre, full-length magazine tube, walnut straight hand butt-stock with crescent heel-plate and central trap, 13 1/8in. pull, walnut fore-end and full-length, weight 9lb. 14oz.
