A RARE ENGLISH PROCURED .42 & .63 PERCUSSION COMBINATION LE MAT & GIRARD 'GRAPESHOT' REVOLVER, serial no. 8912, in a reproduction case,
late model variant circa 1865, with octagonal rifled 6 3/4in. barrel signed on the top-flat 'LE MAT & GIRARD'S PATENT, LONDON' (light blinded pitting), dove-tailed fore-sight, Birmingham proofmarks to right side top-flat of barrel-throat, smoothbore grape-shot barrel beneath (Birmingham proved as an 18-bore), nine shot plain cylinder with matching number, open iron frame, large central hammer with selectable nose operated via a short lever, chequered walnut grips with domed iron heel-cap and moulded lanyard loop, later style plain trigger guard, mushroom-headed screwed barrel locking catch and articulated rammer mounted to left side of barrel, all matching numbers, slight traces of finish and in a competent reproduction walnut partial casing (lid absent), lined and compartmented in the correct manner in green baize and including a rare triple compartment brass mold marked 'L.M.' and '18' for bullets and buck-shot, a James Dixon flask numbered '33', a silver plated cap tin, ebony loading rod, nipple key, oil bottle and wad punch
