28in. nitro reproved damascus barrels, rib engraved '1' and 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 13, CARRS LANE. BIRMINGHAM.', 'PATENT', some pitting, left wall thickness at 18, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 choke in both, William Powell patent crossbolt and extended lump action, patent no. 493 of 1876, use number 385, incorporating Anson & Deeley 1876 patent automatic safety, patent no. 4513, use number 2679, gold 'SAFE' detail, offset toplever with screw access scallops, best fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 3/4in. highly-figured stock including 2in. well-fitted wooden extension, bolstered fore-end with Anson push-rod release catch, weight 5lb. 12oz.
