circa 1855, with heavy 28in. damascus barrels, silver dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rearsight, the plain broad top-rib signed 'JOHN BLISSETT, 332 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON', plain breech-ends with platinum plugs, (traces of colour), border engraved top-tang, slightly curved flat lockplates with border engraving, signed 'JOHN BLISSETT', sliding safeties behind the hammers, border engraving to the hammers, chequered walnut half-stock with inlaid iron patch-box to the right hand side of butt, iron heel-plate, blued trigger-guard with border engraving, double-ball finial, matching ramrod throat, two ramrod thimbles co-joined by a tensioning spring and original brass-mounted ramrod (iron surfaces stained but with traces of original finish, woodwork with some rodent damage, especially behind lock-tails)
