30in. black powder only Whitworth-steel chopperlump barrels, rib engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS, AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON, MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', and numbered '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/2 choke, self-opening action with carved leaf fences, removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, arrow cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, repair to triggerguard, 14 1/2in. figured stock, fore-end chipped right side, weight 6lb. 14oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed April 1896 with 30in. barrels for G.W. Agnew, Esq. and that it was built to match gun no.13914.

It has remained with the vendor's family since being commissioned.
