circa 1870, with round 18 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, hinged breech-block with sprung locking catch signed 'SNIDER'S PATENT', plain flat military-style lock signed 'I. HOLLIS & SONS' forwards of the hammer together with 'MAKERS TO HER MAJESTY'S WAR DEPARTMENT' in a circle surrounding the I. Hollis monogram to the tail, plain hammer, walnut half-stock with brass furniture, iron saddle-bar and ring to left hand side, provision for leather dust cover (missing), iron barrel-band and no provision for ramrod
