A FINE PAIR OF 20-BORE BELTED BALL PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED RIFLES, serial no's. 1682,
circa 1840, with re-browned 28in. damascus barrels, the top-ribs signed in gold 'TANNER IN HANNOVER', white metal dove-tailed fore-sights, dove-tailed rear-sights, gold floral inlays and lines at the engraved breeches, fully carved and engraved top-tangs featuring various game animals with gold accents and isolated gold framing, border and game-scene engraved back-action locks with some screws and pins framed in gold, carved and engraved hammers with gold accents, swinging safes forwards of the hammers, highly figured semi-pistol grip chequered half-stocks with raised cheek-pieces, fully game-scene engraved iron heel-plates with scroll engraved long top-tangs, circular silver floral engraved escutcheons set into the pommels of the grips, border, scroll and game-scene engraved trigger-guard bows with gold inlays, set-trigger to first barrel, gold oval escutcheons engraved with the crest of Ernst August Elector of Hannover, Duke of Brunswick to the fore-ends, white-metal engraved fore-end caps and original nickel tipped ramrods, much original colour to the metalwork except where noted
