29in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the ribs engraved 'BOSS & CO. 11. ALBEMARLE STREET. PICCADILLY, LONDON, W.' (wall thicknesses below recommended minimum) with a flash of scroll and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke (both), toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguards, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. highly-figured stocks including 3/4in. leather-covered recoil pads, weight 6lb. 6oz. (No.1) 6lb. 7oz. (No.2), in their makers brass-cornered oak and leather double guncase
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were ordered in August 1930 with 29in. barrels by Col. W.R. Portal.
