circa 1840, with heavy 8in. octagonal barrels, the top-flats signed 'LONDON', bead fore-sights, twin white-metal lines at breech, scroll engraved colour-hardened breech-blocks, scroll engraved top-tangs, white-metal plugs, borderline and scroll engraved bar action locks signed 'FORSYTH', flat-sided hammers with dolphin heads, walnut half-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, vacant white metal oval escutcheons to wrists, iron furniture, white metal fore-end caps and brass-tipped mahogany ramrods TOGETHER WITH a brass mounted period mahogany storage case, the interior compartmented and lined in burgundy velvet (faded and stained), parchment 'WILLIAM POWELL, BIRMINGHAM' trade-label to inside of lid and also including a nipple key and turn-screw
