A GOOD 15-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1775, with round swamped 36in. barrel, the tapering flat sighting plain signed 'CLEMMES SHUG LANE LONDON SUCR. TO BARBAR' (possibly refreshed) and terminating in an engraved tear-drop, applied fore-sight bead with tear-drop apron, hooked breech with engraved top tang and shallow sighting groove, London proofs and makers stamp 'WS', gold-lined touch-hole, bevel-edged stepped tail lock (pitted, signature obscured), walnut two-piece hand-rail full-stock with carved apron and shell around the top-tang, iron oval escutcheon to wrist with acanthus foliage terminals, iron heel-plate (engraving refreshed), iron trigger-guard and bow with acorn finial, twin iron face-plates at the fore-end join, turned thimbles and possible original ramrod
