circa 1795, with two-stage 36in. barrel banded at the intersection, small squared fore-sight, possibly for a bayonet, no provision for rear-sight, hooked breech with engraved ball-band, private proofs and makers mark 'R' surmounted with a crown, engraved top-tang with shallow sighting groove, slightly curved bevel-edged borderline engraved step-tailed lockplate signed 'J. & W. RICHARDS', borderline engraved frizzen, frizzen-spring with large roller, walnut three-quarter stock with possible later chequered panels, brass furniture including moulded sideplate, iron swivels and iron ramrod
