A 20-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-RIFLE, no visible serial number,
Bohemian, circa 1780, with octagonal swamped 24 1/4in. barrel signed in silver inlay 'IOHAN WISSKOUSKI IN BECHIN', concentric circle engraved to the muzzle-flat together with a lower case letter 'J', engraved ball band at muzzle, brass dove-tailed fore-sight blade with a silver inlet scroll behind, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf and scrolled tail, further inlet silver scrolls to the squared solid top-tang and extending onto the breech area together with another engraved ball band, radiused lock with moulded edge signed forwards of the hammer 'IOHAN WISSKOUSKI', and 'IN BECHIN' to the tail, floral engraving to the tail, hammer-breast and frizzen-front, walnut full-stock carved with borders around the barrel, ramrod channel and furniture, floral carving around the top-tang, ramrod throat, finial and angular raised cheek-piece, rococo edged brass fretwork to the edge of the cheek-piece, the side-plate, the lid of the sliding patchbox at the right hand rear of butt and the brass heel-plate, rococo escutcheon marked with a similar letter to the muzzle, raised wood trigger-guard tang and bow, moulded ramrod thimbles and replacement ebony ramrod
